Gen Con Indy 2011

Posted on 06 September 2011 by Sixpod

“The best game room that I have ever seen in my 9 years of attending Gen Con.”

That quote from a recurring dealer of the show, pretty much sums up the weekend. Gen Con Indy has been in existence for over 41 years and Nexus Gaming Alliance was very happy to be apart of one of the longest running events in world. From dock frenzy Wednesday/Sunday, complete with the dealers room maze to the e-game arena, to opening at 8am. This event was very different for us, but with the professionalism and perseverance of the NGA Staff everything ran great. Open to close each day the E-Game Arena was slammed! Every tournament reaching over predicted attendance numbers. The first big tournament of the convention was my favorite, “The Retro Challenge.” Boasting over 50 people in the challenge. Not to be outdone, Pokemon B&W tournament pulled in 70 people!

Shooter tournaments for Gen Con Indy were sponsored by: ModJunkiez.com  who supplied $200 plus dollar custom controller to the winner of the tournaments.

We also played host to a few great social gatherings after hours. Getting a chance to unwind and get to know some people, as well as catching up with people we have not seen since Gen Con Indy 2010.

The attendees of Gen Con Indy were great, the convention center is amazing. The staff of Gen Con Indy are some of the best around. Thanks goes out to NOS for supplying NGA with drinks and keeping the arena the most energetic place at the show. We hope to see everyone back out next year and if all goes well, we will have the privilege of playing host of the E-Gaming arena again!
