NGA is coming back to the Gaylord National! This time we are bringing the Bemani Invasion, Special Tournaments, Import Gaming and a BYOC section.

How does it work?

With your Katsucon badge you gain access to unlimited console gaming hosted by the Nexus Gaming Alliance (NGA). In the Nexus Gaming Arena players of all ages and skill levels gather in celebration of intense console gaming action.  Come stop by for a quick game between events, or stay for the whole show and step your game to the next level.  Also for 2012, Nexus Gaming Alliance has put together a spot for Import Gaming, Bring Your own Set-up and DS section.

The Basics

All of the console games available in the Nexus Gaming Arena are free to play. We have next-gen and classic consoles, so you don’t have to worry about a variety of systems. If you want to see a certain game or if you have any questions on how to play, please ask any uniformed Nexus Gaming Alliance staffer for assistance. All the controllers will be attached to the systems. You don’t need to worry about renting out controllers like previous years. If you want to play games on an arcade stick or any custom controller, feel free to bring your own.

Tournaments

Nexus Gaming Alliance has jam-packed this year’s schedule with every genre of gaming in order to find Katsucon’s elite gamers! Sign-ups for all tournaments will be at the OPS table inside the arena. For team tournaments come to OPS with your team in order to sign up. Signups will take place the day of that specific tournament.

All tournaments have a roll-call to assure attendance. Please make sure to check in 5 minutes before the start of any event. If you show up late, you will lose your spot in the tournament. Don’t let that happen to you!

What you should know

  • Katsucon’s  game arena does in fact run 24/7.
  • The Import Game Lounge will be open Friday from Noon-10pm, Saturday 10am-10pm, and Sunday 10am-4pm.
  • Rules for tournaments can be found on Nexus Gaming Alliance’s website. www.NGAgamers.com
  • The Retro Gaming Gauntlet has been the tournament to be at every year with exciting classics and a new spin on the hard games from the 8 & 16 bit generation. This tournament is round based, so consistency is more important than winning big once because the highest cumulative score wins it all. Some classics will be instantly recognizable while others will be a blast from the past.
  • Soul Calibur 5 gets released just in time for Katsucon! Join us for the first big SC5 tournament in the country , in primetime on Saturday.
  • Marvel vs. Capcom has been igniting the fighting game scene every tournament. As it’s legions of fans grows this tournament will boil into the tournament at Katsucon. With the November release of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, the game begins again.
  • Due to countless requests we had to put together the first Pokémon tournament for you this year. Without a doubt this will be the biggest event for the NDS this Katsucon. Join fellow trainers in pursuit to be the very best that no one ever was. This tournament will pit trainers against each other in a standard anything goes battle of the beasts. The only way to make it through is to train, trade, and tame the competition.
  • No tournament would be complete without the quintessential fighter Street Fighter. This year Arcade edition will be in full effect bringing back SFIII’s twins Yun and Yang. On top of the traditional singles and team tournaments we have going on, the Mystery Mod tournament will be a spectacle to behold as everything you’ve know and expected from the game is flipped on its head. Mystery Mod will put everyone of all skill levels on the same plane where adapting to the fun is the only way to move on.
